Understanding Chronic Illness

Did you know hat 3/5 adults in the United states have what is termed as a chronic illness? These are defined as something that requires ongoing attention and may limit a persons ability to participate in daily activities with friends or family. The most common of these include heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes. Many people think that some of things are just bound to happen, but believe it or not, most of it can be prevented.

4 things generally have a strong correlation to chronic illnesses: tobacco use, excessive alcohol, poor nutrition, and physical inactivity. A hugs portion of the US health care costs come from these 4 different things, and cost both providers and individuals a lot of money and time.

In the next few posts, I will elaborate more specifically on the different types and more specific ways to decrease risks. Stay tuned, We will get into the nitty gritty.
